We’re pleased to announce the release of something new here at Spotted Belly Books – free interactive online lessons. You can access these lessons as many times as you want, and the interactive features let you learn and move at your own pace. Our first release, "Six Major Scale Fingerings for Guitar", is a method to learn your way around the guitar fretboard by using six basic fingerings for major scales. Each scale fingering is presented on its own page, in both standard notation and tablature. Because scales can often be dry and boring to practice, each page also includes a musical example of how to apply that scale fingering. You can also listen to an audio playback of each scale and example. The lesson also includes chord arpeggios for each scale fingering. Again, each scale fingering has its own page, and you can select which chord arpeggio to display and playback. The third part of the lesson covers shifting between the six positions. These exercises and examples are great for helping you move smoothly up and down the guitar neck. All the examples in this lesson can be downloaded in a single PDF, so you can print them out at home and have them to practice with. Or return to the interactive lesson as many times as you need to.
We hope you check out the lesson at our web site http://www.spottedbellybooks.com/SixScales/story.html, and let us know if you like it or have any suggestions.
